Save the date: Launch of The Lancet Series on Ultra-Processed Foods and Human Health

Since Professor Carlos Monteiro and his team at the University of São Paulo coined the term “ultra-processed” in 2009, numerous studies have documented the rise in consumption of ultra-processed products and its association with detrimental effects on dietary quality and human health.

A new study in The Lancet Series will be published on November 18. A launch event will be held on November 19, featuring Richard Horton, Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet, the series authors, and other world-renowned experts. It will address the scientific and policy dimensions of ultra-processed foods as an urgent health challenge.
