As a result of an elaborate collective process involving cooperatives, social and solidarity economy organizations, university researchers, health professionals, technicians, producers, officials, and legislators, called “Feeding Cities,” the Rosario City Council (Argentina) unanimously approved the Ordinance establishing the “Framework for the Promotion of the Production and Marketing of Agroecological and Organic Products”.
The ordinance was the result of a discussion process called “Feeding Cities,” promoted by the Institute of Socio-Environmental Health of the National University of Rosario, the National Cooperative Food Network, the Germinar Ltda. Workers’ Cooperative, the Socio-Environmental Health Civil Association, the General San Martín Agricultural Technical School, and sponsored by Colansa (the project is part of our grants for research and advocacy).
The regulation aims to actively contribute to the consumption of nutritious foods, strengthening health from a comprehensive perspective and raising awareness of food issues, integrating a vast set of previous provisions and programs that position the city of Rosario as a benchmark in agroecology.
In 2024, Colansa launched a call for proposals for the advocacy area, focusing on the transformation of food systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
