On Thursday, December 4, Colansa presented its new Gender and Intersectionality Hub to our members. The meeting was opened by Executive Director Elisa Mendonça and featured Natalia Elorriaga and Maria Vitoria López.
The objective of the new hub is to integrate a gender and intersectionality perspective across food systems for the benefit of historically excluded communities and territories. The hub seeks to strengthen internal capacities, promoting collaborative and interdisciplinary work, and generating evidence-based proposals that highlight and transform structural inequalities in food systems.
Maria Vitoria López, a consultant for the Hub, explained that the group will be a technical reference point within Colansa in terms of generating evidence, advocacy, and decision-making aimed at mainstreaming gender and intersectionality approaches in food systems.
In the short term, it is expected that a coordinating committee will be formed to be responsible for the group’s actions. These transformative actions will promote the articulation of knowledge and leadership in the future of our organization.
