Colansa invites to the inaugural UPFRAN Global Webinar: Are some ultra-processed foods really “healthy”?

On October 1, Colansa, in collaboration with Nupens/USP and the University of Sydney, will host the webinar “Are some ultra-processed foods really ‘healthy’?”. The idea of “healthy UPFs” has become increasingly prominent in nutrition science and public debate. But what does the evidence actually tell us?

For the inaugural UPFRAN Global Webinar, Professor Carlos Monteiro will critically examine the conceptual and methodological assumptions underpinning the “healthy UPF” narrative. Drawing on new perspectives and comparative analyses, he will explore why focusing on individual product categories obscures the broader implications of ultra-processing at the dietary pattern level, and what this means for how we understand and respond to UPFs as a global health challenge.

Join us for a timely discussion about one of the most contested questions in nutrition science, with one of the leading scholars in the field.
